Wait... so is it common to accidentley go into sleep paralysis?
I'm going to be honest, i only thought it happened if you did the correct steps or whatever to go into it.

As far as i'm aware, you have to do the steps to get into it. That's the only way iv'e done it anyway.

I used to have this every single night and whenever I came home from college and have a couple hours nap. I'd try and sleep and immediately my eyes would open and I wouldn't be able to move my body. I can breathe very heavily and look around and that's it. The only way i found i can get out of it is to keep breathing heavily and to try and wriggle my body. I've heard a voice once before during it saying "he's above you" and I look up and it's just darkness. It's scary as hell but thank god I haven't had it recently.

No you don't have to do steps, you're thinking of lucid dreaming. Sleep paralysis can happen to anyone. I had it because of my lack of sleep.

I've had this happen to me a few times, but without the creepy sh**. I just couldn't move. So I tried hard to move and eventually get out of it.

When I was younger (about 8 years ago) I had woke up and at my door I saw a figure which seemed to be a young girl that looked like my mom in a picture I had seen before when she was a kid. Although I wasn't in sleep paralysis. I used to always hear the microwave make the beeping sound like something was done sometimes at night too.. was weird af.

I don't think there's a way to avoid it. I've never "followed steps" to make it happen. It just simply does.

Woah... Talk about a crap ton of replies. But anyways if your in a scenario like mine. Wiggle the crap out of your toes. You'll get out fast. Most of the time that is. Also. It may be just me but talking crap helps also.
