No single-player campaign mode for Black Ops 3 on PS3 and Xbox 360

Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 will only have multiplayer and zombie mode on PS3 and Xbox 360.

The announcement popped up on the Call of Duty community blog, and states that, “The ambitious scope of the 1-4 player coop Campaign design of the PS4, Xbox One and PC versions could not be faithfully recreated on old generation hardware.”

So if you pick up Black Ops 3 on PS3 or Xbox 360, you’ll only be able to play the multiplayer mode and the zombies mode.

The last gen versions will also be lacking in “features built to leverage the next generation hardware like the new Weapon Paint Shop and the new suite of eSports tools [which] will only be available on Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 for PS4, Xbox One, and PC.”

With that in mind, the RRP for the game on older platforms is $49.99 and will include a “bonus download for the original Call of Duty: Black Ops (bonus download availability may vary by region)”.

I don’t know that many CoD players care that much about the campaign, so is the absence of it something that they’ll be upset about? Should we all have switched over to this gen already anyway, almost two years into this console cycle? Let us know what you think about this move in the comments below.

Can't even play campaign on the old gen.

Don't matter though, Call of duty has been shit for the last few years and will probably be shit this year.


Be happy they took the effort to make it on old gen.

Not there fault, they can only do so much.


I wouldn't really call this an "effort". 1/3 of the game is missing and the Black Ops 1 bonus isn't worth it. The lobbies in that game is a ghost town. I think they should rather release the full game, or don't release it at all.

Not that it bothers me specifically, but that is disappointing that they wait this long tell people this. How many people pre-ordered, digitally, which digital pre-orders is harder to get a refund for. Sucks

Honestly my favorite part about most campaigns besides the story is just admiring the aesthetics, so it's probably better to keep it away from the older consoles if it's just going to look like trash.

I don't blame them for trying to push players to the current generation. It allows them to focus on 2 large platforms rather than splitting features and spending more money for distribution.
